What are those ‘Other languages’?

Official figures for exam entries show French, German, Spanish, Irish and Welsh, and then a composite figure for Other Modern Languages. These comprise 16 languages which are less widely taught in the school system. JCQ makes the breakdown of entries for each language is available separately and Alcantara Communications has compiled these over the years. The evolution of entries for GCSE and A level over the last 7 years is shown below. Figures represent all entries from all types of institution and candidates of all ages in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
